Hello and welcome

If you have found your way here, I am glad our paths crossed.

A career that taught me about people

My professional journey has been anything but planned.

I graduated as a Metallurgical Engineer, started out as a computer faculty, taught Java and Design Patterns to new grads, graduated to building products as a software engineer and eventually found my way into engineering leadership.

When I started out, I was focused on building my career. Over time, I found myself becoming curious about things beyond the work itself. I started out solving technical problems. Over time, I found myself spending more time thinking about people. What helps someone grow? What gives them the confidence to take a leap? And why do some conversations stay with us long after they’ve ended?

I don’t think I had answers to these questions. I just found myself getting more curious about them. And somewhere along the way, I began to realise that a thoughtful conversation can sometimes do more for someone than another piece of advice.

From client to a coach

There was a phase in my career when I felt stuck. I was doing what I knew how to do, going through the motions, and looking for answers. But somehow, I kept coming back to the same questions.

Coaching was a different experience : It didn’t help me find answers. It helped me notice the questions I wasn’t asking.

Some of my biggest shifts didn’t come from learning something new. They came from looking at things differently, questioning what I’d taken for granted, and letting go of things I didn’t need to hold on to anymore.

I experienced this first as a client. And it stayed with me.

Over time, I found myself drawn to the idea of creating that same space for others. Not to tell them what to do, or to offer answers from my own experience, but to help them pause, think things through and discover what makes sense for them.

That eventually led me to coaching.

And here I am.

Beyond work and coaching

On the personal front, I’m a dad to a Gen-Z teenager who makes me feel ancient and curious simultaneously. Being a parent has taught me that influence and control are two very different things.

A good book, a quiet solo trip or time at the cricket nets can make me lose track of time for hours. Coaching has now joined that list.

What started as a personal investment eventually became a way of giving back. And while the journey is miles from complete, that’s perhaps what makes it exciting.
